What's new
CamHeard keeps moving forward, and this is where we jot down briefly what has changed. Updates within the major version are free for everyone with a licence, and the app tells you itself when a new build is out — you don't have to keep an eye on this page.
September 20, 2026: fixes for links, colours and multicam
- Premiere links
- Fixed clips with wrong links.
- Timecode colours
- Fixed colours in timecode mode.
- Sync button
- Added protection against a second sync without an export.
- No folder structure
- Sync of footage with no folder structure got a little better.
- Final Cut Pro multicam
- Fixed the multicam clip in Final Cut Pro.
- Windows
- Fixed removing clips on Windows.
September 4, 2026 — multicam for Final Cut Pro
- Multicam clip in Final Cut Pro
- The Final Cut Pro export now includes a multicam clip next to the synced sequence.
- Fixes
- «Split channels to mono» no longer carries over to the next project.
September 3, 2026 — faster sync
- Faster sync
- The self-check now runs in parallel, so a large shoot syncs faster.
- Fixes
- Final Cut Pro import matches the version you have installed; syncing on local drives on Windows.
September 2, 2026 — mono tracks and clip control
- Split channels to mono
- One checkbox splits recorder channels into mono tracks for all three editors, labelled L and R.
- Clip control
- Select, remove and bring back clips from the right-click menu.
- Optional sync reports
- After the first sync the app asks once whether it may send an anonymous report. It contains no file names and no audio.
- Fixes
- The diagnostics report saves again, and mono tracks in Premiere no longer sound the same.
August 31, 2026 — a monthly plan and a steadier sync
- A monthly plan
- Many of you asked, so it is here.
- More accurate sync
- Anything CamHeard could not place with confidence is now clearly marked instead of sitting among the rest.
- Split recordings
- Recordings that a device split into parts are put back together correctly.
- Faster on a network drive
- Work goes quicker when the footage lives on a NAS or another network volume.
- Fixes
- Long folder names no longer stop an import, cameras kept in separate folders are recognised as one shoot, and the timeline is smoother to work with.
August 26, 2026 — CamHeard for Windows
- CamHeard for Windows
- CamHeard now runs on Windows 10 and 11.
- Improved import
- Footage comes into the app more reliably.
August 6, 2026 — a clearer free version and a more reliable start-up
- You can see what stays free
- When the 14-day full trial runs out, the app shows you what you still get: projects of up to 20 clips — forever. You used to have to go looking for that yourself.
- One-click purchase from anywhere
- A licence status icon has appeared in the top bar. If export is locked, a panel opens where you can still see the sync on the timeline, and buying is one click away.
- A more reliable start-up
- The licence status and the update check are read the moment the app opens — they can no longer “miss” the launch.
July 12, 2026 — multichannel recorders and cleaner exports
- Multichannel audio (poly-WAV)
- Field recorder files with three or more tracks export with all of their channels. In Premiere they arrive as separate mono tracks, ready to mix; in DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut each channel gets its own track at the bottom of the timeline.
- Channel-count badge
- Clips with three or more audio channels carry an “N ch” label — both on import and after syncing. Multichannel recordings stand out at a glance.
- Tidier timelines in Resolve
- Recorder audio lands on the lower tracks, underneath all of the camera audio, and the first video track no longer sits empty.
- Several shoots in one session
- Two different shoots dumped in together no longer get tangled up — each one stays its own clean block. A single shoot spread across folders (one folder per camera) still comes together as one, just as before.
- Exports you can't mix up
- Every sync gets a unique name, shared by the sequence in your editing app and by the exported file.
July 2026 — the first public builds
CamHeard went public in the summer of 2026. Those builds are where everything the app is made of today took shape: export to three editing programs, working with camera folders, the sound that tells you a sync has finished, and the basic behaviour of the interface.
What we're working on right now
- A plugin for Premiere Pro
- So you can sync without leaving your editor. Plugins for the other editing apps will follow.
What you need to run it
macOS 15 (Sequoia) or newer on Apple Silicon, or Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit). A one-time licence or a monthly plan; updates within the major version are free. The free version handles projects of up to 20 clips forever, and every download starts with 14 days of the full version.
The app will tell you about updates itself — you don't have to keep an eye on this page.
