Problem report
If the sync put a clip in the wrong place, or left something at the end that does not belong there, save a report and send it to us. The report holds neither sound nor file names.
Saving a report
- Right after the sync, while the project is open: Export, then Something went wrong….
- Save the file. The name is already filled in:
CamHeard-diagnostics-2026-09-02-1530.json. - Send it to [email protected] and describe in two words what is wrong: which clip, and where it should have been.
The message after saving says how many clips are in the report and how much it weighs: Report saved (209 clips, 180 KB). The app sends nothing by itself: the file is yours and you decide.
What is in the report and what is not
- There is: the shape of the file names (for example, “eight characters, the last four digits”), durations, where each clip was placed, and the measurements behind that decision.
- There is not: sound, frames, file and folder names, or the time of day you were shooting.
The question about sending reports
After the first real sync the app asks once: Help CamHeard get the hard cases right? Answer Send reports and the same anonymised report is sent after every sync automatically. Answer No thanks and nothing is sent. Until you answer, nothing is sent either.
If the sync did not finish
Then there is no sync report, but there is a log: ~/.synctool/last-run.log on macOS. The The sync didn’t finish banner says so directly. Send that file.
